2015 Rosé of Malbec

2015 Rosé of Malbec "Ward Eisan Vineyard"

We love rosé, so we repurposed our small Malbec block for the 2015 growing season to produce 199 cases of “Rosé of Malbec.” Hand picked on August 24, 2015, the wine is a true Rosé, with unforced color and extraction, crisp, dry and fresh, but also present and nuanced -- ready for the warm, deep evenings just ahead.  The grapes were grown at 800 feet of elevation in the block we call our “Ward Eisan Vineyard” (after the neighbor who managed our vineyards in the late 1940s and early 1950s). Like our Sauvignon Blanc, this rosé is a wine we have made to please ourselves, our families and our friends.

Wine Profile
Winemaker Notes
Provence's golden rule for making great rosé is to pick the grapes at optimal ripeness to make ... Rosé! Inspired by Provençal wisdom, our Malbec was picked by hand at 20.8º Brix. The resulting wine has an exuberant nose of strawberry, blood orange and hints of watermelon and grape blossom. There is a touch of cream in the lovely texture, with crisp acidity and a dry finish. This salmon-hued, fresh wine is a natural match for grilled fish, goat cheese, or simply paired with a sunny afternoon or warm evening.
